Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 4, 2026 · Applies to http://localhost:3000
This page lists every cookie and every local-storage key The operator of LiveNote sets when you use LiveNote. There is nothing on this list that the site does not actually use: no analytics cookies, no social widgets, no trackers. The full data picture (what is stored server-side, retention, deletion) is in the Privacy Policy.
1. Strictly necessary cookies
These make the notepad work — signing in, saving, sharing, collaborating. They are set only as you use the feature that needs them, and they never track you across other websites. Because the service does not function without them, they do not require consent.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| nx_owner | Links your anonymous notes to your browser so only you can edit them. | 1 year |
| nx_session | Keeps you signed in after you sign in. | 30 days |
| nx_csrf | Protects save/sign-in requests against cross-site request forgery. | Until you close the browser |
| nx_oauth_state | One-time state token during Google sign-in. | Minutes (single sign-in) |
| nx-viewer-name | The display name you type once for live presence on shared pages. | Until you clear it in the presence dialog |
| nx-unlock:<note> | Marks a password-protected note as unlocked so you are not re-prompted every visit. | 1 day |
2. Local storage
Two preferences live in your browser’s local storage instead of cookies. They never leave your device and are never sent to the server.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| nx-theme / nx-theme-mode | Remembers your light/dark/accent theme choice. | Until you change themes or clear site data |
| ln-cookie-consent | Remembers your Allow/Decline choice on the cookie card. | Until you change it below or clear site data |
3. Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)
Public information pages (the landing, features, guides and about pages) may show ads served by Google AdSense. Where ads are shown, Google and its partners may set cookies to serve and measure advertising, including ads based on your visits to this or other websites. Google manages these cookies and their lifetimes itself — they are third-party cookies, not set by LiveNote, which is why they are described here by category rather than by name. Note pages, the editor, and every screen where you write or read a note carry no advertising and load no ad script at all.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings and via your device’s ad controls.
- How Google uses data on partner sites is explained by Google’s partner-sites policy.
- Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads, through Google’s certified consent solution.
- More detail on where ads appear: the Advertising Disclosure.
4. Your choice
Declining on the cookie card keeps LiveNote fully working — every feature above stays on — but removes ad slots and the AdSense script from the site. You can revisit that choice any time:
Clearing your browser’s site data for http://localhost:3000/ also resets both the consent choice and your theme.
