Advertising disclosure

Ads are served by Google AdSense and appear only on the public information pages: the landing page, the features page, the about page, and the guides. Even there, ads appear only in areas clearly labelled Advertisement, in the page margins or between sections.

Ads never appear on a note page, never inside the editor, never inside the body of a note, and never next to a button you are about to click. The screens where you write, edit, and read notes carry no advertising at all; no advertising script is even loaded there. Legal pages like this one, the contact page, and the privacy policy are ad-free for the same reason.

Blocking ads does not break LiveNote. The editor, real-time collaboration, sharing, and encryption are all served by the app itself and keep working with advertising disabled.

This is the part worth reading carefully, because it is a real tradeoff.

• They can see that you viewed a page on https://livenote.in, along with general location and device information inferred from your IP address and browser.
• They cannot see the contents of your notes. Note text is never sold, shared, or provided to Google or any other advertising partner.
• They can technically observe that a particular note link was opened. If the existence of a link is itself sensitive, that is a reason to keep the note off a public URL.

LiveNote has two tools for content that should not be casually readable, and they work at different layers:

• Password protection gates the page. The password is hashed with argon2id before storage, so it cannot be recovered, only reset.
• End-to-end encryption is stronger. The note body is encrypted in your browser with AES-256-GCM and the server only ever stores ciphertext it has no key for. End-to-end encrypted notes require an account, because the key has to stay recoverable for you across devices.

Neither option hides the fact that a link was visited. If that matters, share the note through a channel other than a public URL, or let the link expire.

LiveNote's own cookies are strictly necessary and are listed one by one in the privacy policy. Advertising cookies are a separate matter and are set by Google, not by us. Where the law requires consent before personalized advertising (the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland), consent is collected through Google's certified consent management platform configured in the AdSense dashboard, before any personalized ad is served. We do not substitute a homemade banner for that mechanism.

You can stop personalized ads from reaching you without leaving your browser:

• Turn off personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings.
• Use the “Hide personalized ads” or similar option in your device settings.
• Install a content blocker. Nothing on LiveNote stops working.

LiveNote is funded by ad impressions, so blocking ads does reduce what the service earns. Nothing about your notes, your account, or your access to features changes either way.
